2025 Budget Disappointments

The Crisafulli Government’s first budget was not surprising, but it was disappointing.

David Crisafulli promised there would be no cuts to health, that energy prices and debt would be lower, that they would deliver heavy rail all the way to Maroochydore, that they would honour emissions reductions targets and they would treat first nations people with respect. ALL of these promises have been broken.

The new government has delivered a budget where debt is higher than they promised and have ensured there will be delays to the infrastructure pipeline Queensland needs.

On top of this, millions of families will miss out on cost-of-living relief.

After concerted community pressure, they relented and kept the Fair Play vouchers for Queensland kids, but, in an act of extreme pettiness, they chose to rename the program. This was a win for the community, but it came at the cost of common sense.

The Ferny Grove Electorate was barely mentioned in the budget. Under the previous government I championed our schools, roads and public transport, but this budget leaves our community as little more than an afterthought.

Under this budget your household will be $1,000 worse off through the axing of the energy rebate and you will pay 24% more for each vehicle rego.

But they did find the time and money to change Queensland’s coat of arms and the budget papers from Queensland maroon to LNP blue. I am very concerned about their priorities.
