Today I caught up with the Rector of the Grovely Parish, Father Steven Briggs.

Father Briggs and I inspected the venerable St Matthews Church Hall on Church Road in Mitchelton.

I was pleased to inform the Father the Parish had been successful in their application to the Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF) for Round 125 to have the hall re-painted.

As you can see, the hall is in need of a little love. The Parish had raised enough money to replace the roof, but needed an extra grant to be able to do the painting as well.

I was very happy to serve as a referee for the application because I know the fantastic work the Grovely Parish does in our community.

Local not-for-profit groups shared in over $130,000 this round’s grants.

If your local charity, not-for-profit, or sporting club needs an extra funding boost, please consider applying for a GCBF grant. My office can advise you about the guidelines and whether your group is eligible. Call 3535 7100 or email ferny.grove@parliament.qld.gov.au.
