Ferny Grove Festival

Ferny Grove State School is hosting the Ferny Grove Festival on 18 October from 3pm till 9pm.

The Festival is a whole of community event, showcasing the best local entertainment, fabulous food and our great community groups. It features rides and activities for all ages. The Festival is a wonderful opportunity for people to connect, share and simply have fun.

Community Showcase highlights all the best our community has to offer including our community partners, Australian Defence Force, Queensland Police and Queensland Fire Service, as well as a collection of not-for-profit organisations in our community.

The Entertainment and Food Precinct brings a diverse range of multicultural food options and offers an amazing array of local live music on our big stage for everyone’s enjoyment. From German Sausages, Japanese and Asian goodies and gluten free Donuts, to firm favourites like BBQ and Hot Chips there’s something to appeal to all tastes.

Students Rally for Change with Ping Pong-A-Thon.

Students at Ferny Grove State High School are picking up their paddles for a cause, hosting this year’s Ping Pong-A-Thon—a student-led initiative aimed at raising awareness and funds to combat human trafficking and exploitation.

The event will see students playing table tennis for hours on end, bringing the community together through friendly competition while highlighting the importance of global citizenship and compassion.

“This is more than just a game,” said one of the student organisers. “We’re using ping pong to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable people around the world.”

The Ping Pong-A-Thon is part of a larger movement across schools and communities in Australia, where young people are taking the lead in driving positive change. Funds raised go directly to partner organisations working on the ground to protect children and young people from exploitation.

Community members are encouraged to get involved by cheering on participants or making a donation to support the students’ efforts.

Mitchelton State School

The school has noted the staff carpark should not be used for student drop offs without prior approval from the principal.

Using this area for drop-offs poses a significant safety risk for everyone.

Please be mindful and follow designated parking and drop-off procedures.

Patricks Road State School

Work is scheduled to commence on 20th October to replace the retaining wall located in front of Prep B and C. During this period, the area will be secured with temporary fencing for safety. Families of students in Prep B and C are kindly requested to access the classrooms via the top gate near Prep E and enter through the rear doors.

Please note that the bike racks will be temporarily relocated to the grassy area towards the library throughout the duration of the works.

The project is expected to be completed within two weeks.

The school apologises for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciates your understanding as they undertake these improvements. The school looks forward to sharing the finished result with you.
