Reading Challenge & Book Week
The Premier’s Reading Challenge is on now and finishes on 22 August this year during Book Week.
Last year, more than 2.46 million books were read by more than 180,000 Queensland children and students from 1,012 schools and 388 early childhood centres. The Challenge aims to improve literacy and encourage children to read for pleasure and learning. https://readingchallenge.education.qld.gov.au/
Prep Enrolments
Local schools are hosting Prep Enrolments and School Tours for the coming year at present – so check in with your local school to book!
FGSS 150th
Ferny Grove State School celebrates their 150th anniversary with many events planned. The birthday party is going to be held over two days on 14 and 15 August at the school with the Alumni Soiree for past students occurring on Saturday 13 September. To book go to forms.office.com/r/bisv93usjD.
Grovely SS Grand Raffle
Grovely State School P&C is holding a MEGA FATHER’S DAY RAFFLE! By purchasing tickets, you’re not only in with a chance to win something great, but you’re also making a significant investment in the early reading success of the children in our community.

Storytelling in the Library for Littlies!
Mitchelton State School is hosting a storytelling in their library for kindy aged children and toddlers on Friday 12 September from 9AM to 10:15AM. To register your interest email info@mitcheltonss.eq.edu.au.
Oakleigh State School Junior Playground Build
Works have started on Oakleigh State School Junior Playground. This means that access through and around the site will be disrupted for the length of the build. Once complete the new playground will be a fantastic addition to the school facilities. A big thanks goes out to the P&C for their planning and financial contribution to this development!
